Living Faith FLOCK's

Living Faith's FLOCK's are groups that will meet in the homes of members on Wednesday evenings.  They will provide worship, biblical discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and shepherding to the people of Living Faith Baptist Church.

The acronym for FLOCK stands for the following:

Fellowship - FLOCK's will provide a place for our members and visitors to practice biblical fellowship.  Although people are the church, the Scriptures portray them as a unified family (1 Tim 3:15; Eph 1:5), that ought to stimulate one another to love and good deeds. (Heb 10:24-25)

Leadership Development - FLOCK's provide a place for the members of our congregation to learn and exercise their ministry gifts for the building of Christ's Body.  These groups will provide eldership/pastoral teaching opportunities for men who desire such a "good work"

Outreach - FLOCK's enable visitors an opportunity to get to know our members in their FLOCK areas and permit an easier integration into the ministry of the church. Although the focus of the meetings will revolve around discipleship of the believers, these groups will be the appropriate venue to invite unbelievers to observe the love and unity of the church as they gather to study the Word of God.

Caring - FLOCK's will allow for practical opportunities of ministry, by engendering close relationships that lead to the caring for fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Knowledge - The study of the scriptures will remain the central focus of the FLOCKS.  The desire is to grow in our understanding, and holiness, longing to obey the Word (John 17:17, 1 Peter 1;15-17, James 1:19-25)

Why Have Flocks? - Aside from the above mentioned, it is also important to understand that the best way to disciple a congregation is through small groups.  These groups that meet in the home provide an opportunity to teach the Bible and instruct in practical ways on how to observe what Christ taught (Matt 28:20).  This is precisely how the early church met, and received instruction (Acts 2:46, 5:42, 20:20).  At Living Faith we are committed to equip the saints in the work of ministry so that the local body can be built up (Eph 4:11-2) through caring ministries and equipped for outreach.  In addition, due to the FLOCK's being located in various areas, believers will find commitment of discipleship, fellowship, and ministry easier.  Added is the benefit of reaching out to visitors who are in a FLOCK's general area.  Over time, our prayer is that the FLOCK's will grow numerically, and then extend into other regions with qualified teachers.

Who Should Attend? - Undershepherding is a serious responsibility, and therefore overseeing the souls of the congregation is not a task to be taken lightly (Heb 13:17).  Hense, when the FLOCKS meet, it will require that the family members of Living Faith attend and participate for their own spiritual edification.  Willful and habitual forsaking of the gathering of the saints is a serious matter; therefore, if there are legitimate reasons for not being able to attend, please inform your FLOCK Leader. All new church members will be assigned to a FLOCK upon joining. Visitors are also welcome and encouraged to attend FLOCK meetings prior to joining.

What is the Format of the FLOCK Meetings? - We recommend that the FLOCK's meet for approximately an hour and a half with each group determining their starting and ending times.  The meeting will include praise, prayer, bible study, and fellowship.

What About Child Participation? - Each FLOCK will provide for their own childcare for children under 5.  Older children can be trained to sit, and learn, thus benefiting from the meeting.  This affords the parents wonderful evangelism and discipleship opportunities for their children.

The flock concept and its content was adopted from Grace Fellowship Church.
